App gets runtime error 429 when deploying via SCCM

$

I have an application I'm trying to deploy and it works fine when manually running the app (silently) on my test machine. When deploying it from SCCM and then trying to run the program you get a message saying "Run time error 429 - activex component can't create object".

I can silently run the exe for the app from a command prompt. I can also do the same if I use the programs MSI file instead.

If I use the exe, msi or batch from SCCM it fails. I've tried deploying when a user is logged in or logged off.

One of the frustrating issues is I have been able to make it work on some systems, but not all. It fails more often than not. I'm wondering if it has something to do with a windows update (maybe .net framework) that isn't the same on each system.

I have already checked logs and haven't been able to find anything.

Any ideas?

I am in a Knowledge Acquisition Phase of my project in my client location. I am new to SCCM. I need questionnaire for Software distribution using SCCM. I have to submit that to higher mgmt. I need questions as shown below to know about the client SCCM infrastructure.

  1. Is there a Remote DP or Secondary DP?
  2. IF it more than one DP provide Site Names?
  3. Which are the Collections the DP has been Tagged if more than one DP?
  4. Is it user based deployment or device based (Desktop, Laptop, Tablet and Mobile)?
  5. Specific Schedule time for intallation?
  6. type of applciation Virtual or MSI?
  7. Storage Location UNC or Local?

Can you please help by providing possible questions that can raised during in KAP phase, and questions related to risk in deployments.. etc,

Please help me.

software distribution to diferent Sites

I'm having a doubt about
software distribution, in this scenario I've a Windows Server SCCM 2007 R2 on
site A. I've created a package on my local fileserver and created the
distribution package on SCCM Server. In my LAN there is no distributing this
package, but if I deploy de package to a customer on site B it will colapse my
entire corporate network.
My questions are, Is there any way to create a
remote package and allocate that package in that remote network? On site B, C, D
and E we have Local Fileserver too. Can we use this fileserver as a local
repository and create a package distribution on SCCM Server on site A?
Thanks
in advance.

Recover deleted collection members

Hi All,

Need some direction in handling a situation where there was a deletion of members in one of the collection which resulted in removing all reporting SCCM clients from all collections. This went unnoticed as the main admin was on vacation. Now we have new collection members and have a DB backup which has the old collection members.

What would be the best way of getting the data from the backup restored to the production so we have the collection members in all collections as before, maintain the newly made changes after the deletion and ensure that this process does not rerun the advertisements on the end users system during the entire process.

Thanks in advance

I am using SCCM 2007 to push a program. In the advertisement status I can find the number of machines that received the advertisement and ran the program successfully.

I need to know the names of these machines if possible

Hi,

I am deploying a package that needs the outlook should be closed prior to install. For that, we have included popup message in the vbs script(setup.vbs) file. When deploying the package via SCCM(using package deployment method), the popup message is not appearing but it is working when we run the script file manually. i have modified SCCM program setting but no luck.

Could you advise what setting needs to be changed in SCCM Program & deployment?

Error during connection to (64) or (53)

Hey everyone

I have a SCCM 2007 R3 site with multiple Secondary Sites. All other Sites are functioning fine, however sending packages to one site in particular has been problematic. It worked up until a week or so ago.

From the primary site server, I can ping and nslookup the secondary site server

From the secondary site server, I can ping and nslookup the primary site server

On the secondary site server, I have the primary site server computer account in the local administrator's group

I made sure all the SMS shares on the Secondary site are still available and present.

I checked permissions on the Site Server's SMSPKGC$ directory, and the administrators group is populated with Full Control (which contains an AD group containing my primary site server computer account)

The sender account for the Secondary site contains the correct DNS name for the Secondary Site Server

I've tried removing the problematic package and re-sending = no luck

I've tried sending a new, smaller test package = no luck

In the Sender.log on the Primary Site Server, I see these errors:

*************************

Error during connection to  \\SecondarySiteServer.domain.com\SMS_SITE (64).

Error during connection to \\SecondarySiteServer\SMS_SITE (64).

Error during connection to \\SecondarySiteServer\SMS_Site (53).

Cannot connect to server SecondarySiteServer at remote site <Site #>, won't try send requests going to site <SecondarySite#> for an hour or until there are not active send requests.

FQDN for server SecondarySiteServer is SecondarySiteServer.domain.com

*************************

I'm seeing both 53 & 64 errors.

I did notice on the Secondary Site server that I get occasional MP check failures in the MPCONTROL.log:

*************************

Call to HttpSendRequestSync succeeded for port 80 with status code 200, text:OK

Http test request succeeded.

Successfully performed Management point availability check against local computer.

Call to HttpSendRequestSync failed for port 80 with status code 500, text: Internal Server Error

Http test request failed, status code is 500, 'Internal Server Error'

*************************

Does anyone have any recommendations on what to check for next?

Thanks

Forcing Client to Download Latest Source File

$

Hi guys,

I'm comfortable with creating a package within SCCM 2007 and deploying to DP's and therefore creating an advertisement then deploying to clients.  I needed to update the package I created, eg. an Office .MSP File and I have updated the DP's with the update however when I re-ran the advertisement on the client, it was still using the original source files (including original MSP file).  I assume it's obtaining these from the originally downloaded content which is stored on C:\Windows\System32\CCM\Cache.  Without manually deleting the cached copy, is there a way to force a client to download the latest copy from the DP prior to running the advertisement?

Office 2010 Setup.exe hanging on clients

$

I have been tasked with deploying Word 2010 to clients within my company.  The problem being is that there are a mix of clients which have Office 2003 and Office 2010 SP 2 (Full suite) and Office 2010 (Full Suite).

I am to deploy Office 2010 (MS Word only).  So far I have found the install works fine on clients that have Office 2003.  It removes older version of office and installs Word 2010.

On clients that have any flavour of Office 2010 installed, it looks like setup.exe just sits in the processes.  A quick look at the log file on C:\windows\temp doesn't indicate any failures.  A reboot of the machine after an hour or so just makes the advertisement appear again.

My package called a batch file which calls the office setup.exe and msp file.  Is there anything I can include in the batch file which will check for an existing version of office?

Can anyone suggest any other ideas?

During advertisement of package or task sequence interaction tab

During advertisement of package or task sequence interaction tab allow users to run the program independently of assignment what is the behavior? Select Display reminders according to the client agent reminder intervals means it should be selected whenever rebooted is required? or for installation reminders? Then use custom countdown notification length (minutes) what is the maximum

Application Supersedence - Office 2007MSI > Office365C2R

$

Ok, so. I'm kind of the specialist here on program deployment for our company -
I've got around most of the issues we've seen, but the Application system is
totally new to me (we just upgraded from SCCM 2007, where "applications" don't
exist).

I'm trying to create a deployment for Office365 - I can get it
to install, that's no problem. I used the appV packager part of the setup file,
so it even does the streaming.
The problem I've got is that we're upgrading
to that from Office 2007, which was installed via MSI. I found a page that
describes the steps required to add it into the system (given the setup file is
an exe, and the application system imports from msi). I imported the
ProPlusWW.msi file as recommended, and changed the install/uninstall commands to
use the setup.exe file (setup.exe /uninstall for removal). Now, when I set the
system up for O365 to supersede office 2007, it should remove the old version,
right? I run the application from the software centre, and lo! setup.exe *32
appears, which should be the removal.

It sticks at a low amount of
RAM, confirmed to match the amount used when it's got to the "are you sure you
want to remove this software?" prompt. So, I go and create a new xml file with
"displaylevel="none" in it, and reboot value="NEVER" to get it to remove without
prompt, and without rebooting the PC in the middle of someone working... It
still sticks the process at the low level of RAM use (1740k), and I've
left it for over 30 minutes to make sure - should be more than enough time for
it to do what it needs to do.

Anyone have any ideas? Please ask if you
need any more information to help me.... Being as I can't figure out the issue,
I can't be sure what you might need to know about it.

Thanks.

How to use SCCM Reboot Co-ordinator inside wisescript to back to back installation

$

Hello,

we use wise script for application packaging.

For reboot based application, customised reboot is used inside script which keeps application in running till it is rebooted. Due to this we are facing issue and getting exit code 1073807364 which means SCCM thread is running at backend due to this it is assumed application is failed even if it is installed correctly.

this is occuring because exit code is released just before rebooting systems and sometimes SCCM don't release code and reboot the system due this we get above error.

now we want to use SCCM reboot mechanism inside the package which will surely resolve the issue because we tested with configmgr restart computer option and that's works fine.

but we don't want SCCM reboot interface instead we want our customised dialog should be used so we want detailed reboot co-ordinator mechanism so that we can include same inside application wrapper

Can SCCM delete print drivers?

$

Can SCCM remove print drivers from a deployed PC?

I may be in the wrong community.  If so, please point me in the correct direction.

We have roughly 400 printers installed on Server 2012 R2.  We are implementing a new Windows print solution due to our 2008 R2 cluster's erratic behavior.

We created a one node development box that is in place for now.

When we switched from the cluster to a stand alone solution, we had about 150 drivers that became corrupted and would not print until we performed a number of steps to remove the "broken" driver package and replace the driver of the same type from our driver store by hand.

1. Select affected printer, go to local driver store to note location of the print driver files

2, Delete existing printer

3. Stop spooler

4. Delete driver files

5. Restart print spooler

6. Run GPUPDATE /FORCE to reapply the printer with a working driver.

Before we go live with our new solution we would like to remove the driver and package using SCCM if possible hoping to avoid the same situation.

Our current deployment method is using Security Groups (memberships) and separate GPOs to push the assigned printer to the proper Windows 7 32 bit OS PCs.

Any ideas?

Can No Longer Read Uninstall Keys with vbscript package run by SCCM

$

Hi,

I've been using vbscript packages in SCCM for over a decade, and one thing I do is use the registry to determine if I need to uninstall an old program with the Value:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
or
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Example code snip:

UnstKey = "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{81BE0B17-563B-45D4-B198-5721E6C665CD}"
UnstVal = wshShell.RegRead(UnstKey & "\UninstallString")

If I run this manually, it works great, but all of a sudden, when I run a vbscript like this in SCCM it now returns:
Invalid root in registry key "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{...}\UninstallString"

I normally run everything whether or not a user is logged on as System, but I did a test, and it even fails if I run the package as the user, which really surprised me. I check permissions in registry key, and Everyone has read, System has Modify.

This code was working about a month ago. No changes to SCCM that I know. Sadly, we are still running 2007 SP2

Hi All,

We are trying to deploy Lync 2013 to Windows 7 workstations that currently have Office 2013 professional installed on.

Unfortunately we arent have much luck at the moment..

It seems to push Office 2013 tools out but not Lync itself..

The package was created using the Office customisation tool

the sccm command is set to setup.exe /adminfile updates \name.msp and also tried msiexec command line but no joy

Please can someone advise me how to achieve this Lync rollout?

Kind Regards, Enjoy the weekend!
